The IDC Staff Instructor course is designed to provide a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer with the additional training necessary to staff PADI IDCs. The course is conducted over 14 days with two days of training followed by an actual IDC. Candidates participate in an entire IDC and develop evaluation and counseling skills.

A qualified IDC Staff Instructor is certified to teach PADI Assistant Instructor courses and assist in instructor-level training. Topics covered are the same as an IDC, plus additional training in knowledge development, confined water and open water evaluations. Personal skills are also brought up to IDC demonstration quality.

Entry Requirements:
PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer
Minimum age:  18

Course Materials:
IDC Staff Instructor candidates need the following materials:
- PADI Course Director Manual
- PADI Confined Water and Open Water Evaluation Slates
- PADI Instructor Manual

All IDC Staff Instructor candidates are also required to have current student materials from the PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, PADI Rescue Diver, PADI Divemaster and PADI OWSI and Peak Performance Buoyancy, Project AWARE, and AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Specialty Instructor Outlines from the PADI Specialty Instructor Manual. These materials are not included in the cost of the course.

Equipment Needed:
The following equipment is required for the IDC Staff Instructor Course:
• Mask
• Fins
• Snorkel
• BCD with low pressure inflator system
• Single hose regulator with alternate air source device
• Submersible pressure gauge
• Depth gauge
• Compass
• Bottom timing device (computers are acceptable)
• Water resistant timing device (watch with second hand)
• Dive knife or tool
• Audible surface signaling device (whistle or other noise maker)
• Visible surface signaling device (tube or mirror)
• Underwater signaling device
• Pencil and underwater slate
• PADI RDP & eRDP
• Underwater lights (primary and secondary)
• Pocket mask & non-rebreather mask
• Logbook

Schedule & Dates:
At Pro Dive we offer two scheduling formats for you to become a PADI IDC Staff Instructor – Semester Scheduling and Career Scheduling.  Semester Scheduling is conducted on nights and weekends, and our Career Scheduling is done in consecutive days.

Certification Awarded:
Upon successful completion of the IDC Staff Instructor course, candidates are allowed to audit additional PADI Instructor Development Courses (IDC).  Once a candidate has passed the IDC Staff Instructor course they will become a PADI IDC Staff Instructor.
